By default, Clabrate inserts exactly what you said — raw, accurate transcription with automatic punctuation. AI enhancement is the optional layer on top: it rewrites that raw text into a cleaner, more polished form in the style you choose.
Raw vs. enhanced
- Raw (default) — your words, transcribed and punctuated, nothing reworded. Fast and fully predictable.
- Enhanced — an AI model tidies grammar, trims filler, and applies a style (e.g. a tighter email or formatted Markdown) before the text is inserted.
Enhancement is off until you turn it on, so nothing about your wording changes unless you opt in.
Turning it on
The quickest control is the ✨ menu-bar icon. Click it to toggle enhancement on or off and to pick a style. You can also manage enhancement in Settings → Tidy style.
The presets
| Preset | Result |
|---|---|
| Raw | No rewriting — your words as transcribed (default) |
| Clean, courteous email phrasing | |
| Casual | Relaxed, conversational tone |
| Formal | Polished, professional wording |
| Code | Tuned for code comments and technical notes |
| Markdown | Structured with Markdown formatting |
Pick whichever fits what you’re writing; switch any time from the ✨ menu.
Note: Enhancement uses an AI model. The built-in Llama 3.2 1B runs entirely on-device by default, so enhancing text doesn’t require the internet. If you choose a cloud model like Gemini instead, your text is sent to that provider — see Models & providers and Privacy & your data.
Common questions
Will it change my meaning? Enhancement aims to clean up wording, not invent content. For sensitive text where exact words matter, stay on Raw.
Is there a delay? Enhancement adds a short processing step after transcription. The on-device 1B model is quick; larger or cloud models may take a little longer.
Can I keep raw as my default and enhance only sometimes? Yes — leave the toggle off and flip it on from the ✨ menu when you want it.
